Readings for Next Week
I know class is over, but I just can’t stop!
A new one from an Insert Credit posse member: Ambition and Cumpulsory Design in Animal Crossing
An old one from David Sirlin: Slippery Slope and Perpetual Comeback
(Btw, if you have never read Sirlin’s Playing to Win articles, you are in for a real treat.)
Good stuff– glad to find a name for the problem I had with the Ares battle. It’s funny how if you encounter the slippery slope with a computer, it’s cheap, but if you encounter it with another player, it’s just losing.
Aren’t ‘Slippery Slope’ and ‘Perpetual Comeback’ just artificially colloquial words for ‘positive’ and ‘negative’ feedback loops?
Yes, but they’re also easier to wrap your head around than the term “Feedback Loop,” which is a little too P-Comp for my tastes.
