Game Ideas for the Wii
If you could design any game for the Wii, what would it be? The Wii seems to be at its best when people gather to play it, so I think the best ideas should incorporate this social aspect. But beyond that, I’d love to hear what people would like to see developed for the Wii.
For me: how about Wii Dodgeball where you velcro one remote to your head to dodge the balls, and have a second remote to throw the balls? But could this be social?
Actually, when I first came up with the “Labyrinth” idea, it was something I pipe-dreamed as something ideal for the Wiimote, which when properly adjusted can be just as satisfying an input device as the mouse, or as something which could be implemented in conjunction with the DS. Perhaps it’s something that could be hacked for one of the classes next semester, if I can find willing underlings– I mean volunteers.
I would love to see a Jai Alai game. Especially if you could do network play. You could do really interesting things with space and perspective.
As far as actually getting people together in person, I have three words for you my friend: Jenga, Havok physics. Just think about it…
A rock star game. The player must perform actions to get the crowd excited. For example, shaking the nun-chuck is head banging, twirling it makes the star dance in a circle. Music is played and the score relies on how excited the crowd is and if the timing of the excitement is correct. Getting the crowd excited when the song is mellow will obviously yield low points.
It gives people a chance to whip out the air guitar and show Mick Jagger how it’s really done!
