Interview With a Guy Who Worked on Super Mario Galaxy (and Isn’t Shigeru Miyamoto)

Our friend Noah Sasso pointed this article out to me. It’s the summation of an interview with Yoshiaki Koizumi, Director of Super Mario Galaxy. It’s an interesting history in the thought processes of a game designer and how ideas can be developed very slowly over years of work. I kind of wish that they just had a transcript, but maybe that will be posted later. Anyway, enjoy.

Told You Sports and Video Games Had a Lot in Common

There’s a great article up on Next Generation about the famous Street Fighter III match between Daigo and Justin wong, specifically the famous YouTube video of their fight. Which is, specifically, an article that was a originally published in Edge Magazine (UK), so they unfortunately don’t list the author. The piece does a great job in helping someone who’s not incredibly informed about the game (such as myself) appreciate it’s intricacies. The same way that a great piece of sports writing will help you understand even Byzantine games like Baseball. It also links to a video of the full fight, which you see in completely a new light after reading the article.

BCS Re-done

If you remember my post from several weeks ago about college football and how the system to decide a champion is broken, I’ve been working on fixing it ever since. I’ve launched a blog dedicated to the effort actually: Rethinking the BCS

Take a gander if this sort of thing does it for you.
